Mother Dairy-Amul Milk Price Increase Explained

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, abbreviated as GCMMF, sells milk and several other dairy products under the popular Amul brand. A 4 per cent hike in MRP of Mother Dairy-Amul Milk indicates a Rs. 2/litre increase in overall price. This means, from today (17th Aug, 2022), you’ll have to pay more than before for every packet of milk you purchase.

On Tuesday, 16th Aug, 2022, GCMMF has announced that Mother Dairy-Amul Milk will become dearer by Rs. 2 per litre in several states like West Bengal , Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Gujarat etc. GCMMF made the following statement to explain the sudden rise in rate: “This price hike is being done due to an increase in overall cost of operation and production of milk. The cattle feeding cost alone has increased to approximate 20% compared to last year.”

Milk is an essential ingredient in every home, consumed daily by children and adults. From Wednesday, full cream milk will be priced at Rs. 61 for one litre instead of the previous price of Rs. 59/litre. If you prefer toned milk, you will need to pay Rs. 51 while the new rate of double toned milk is Rs. 45 for one litre. For 1 litre of cow milk, you will have to pay Rs. 53. Earlier the price of token milk was Rs 46, but now it’s Rs. 48.
